Back in the good ole USA!

Today we were back in the USA. Well, kinda. We walked across the Rainbow Bridge from Canada, to view the American Falls and check out the USA Niagara Falls park.

Yes, we had to go thru immigration.
Yes, we remembered our passports.
No, the US inspector wasn't friendly.
No, we didn't get searched.

The Canadians collected a 50 cent toll to cross the bridge! Gotta get in their last licks. The return trip to Canada was free, and we got a friendly greeting as well. Hmmmm. Just like going to PEI, you go to Canada from the USA free, but gotta pay to go home. LOL.

I know, you're totally OVER the Niagara Falls thing. Too bad, this is MY blog, and I'm putting up more pictures!
What's with the bird, you say? Hey, he was struttin' his stuff for us, seemed impolite not to take his picture!

Take a step out of this portal, and you hit the falls at about 100 feet above the river, never to be seen again

Niagara Falls

The only word for Niagara Falls is WOW. As you can see from our pictures, we loved this place. Would you believe this is maybe 10% of the ones we took? Well, you can always scan down or just skip the post. :)

Natural beauty is the thing here. All the stuff on the shore is fine, but all eyes are drawn to the water. The sheer power and scope is not possible to capture in a photo, ya gotta be there. Hope you enjoy.

Presquille Provincial Park

We stopped at this lovely park on the way from Emile's to Niagara Falls. Great place to unwind, it is on the tip of a little peninsula that sticks out from the top of Lake Ontario. Here's the location. Nancy snapped some nice shots of the park.

a visit with Emile and Raymonde

After visiting Quebec City for a couple of days, we headed west and north to Notre Dame De Pontmain, which is north of Ottawa about 70 miles. There we spent two days with Emile and Raymonde, friends we met last winter in Florida. Raymonde is the one who taught Nancy how to do the Tunisian crochet, and boy has she been busy at it on this trip. You'll see! Emile makes marvelous coffee in a super sophisticated mini espresso machine. Yum. Raymonde is quite the gourmet cook, and kept us plump and happy with her concoctions. They have a vegetable garden for lettuce, herbs, tomatoes, and so on, which is in raised boxes outside the kitchen sliding door. Their place sits above a boat dock on the lake formed when the river was dammed for a reservoir. We went for a leisurely trip on the pontoon. Great camping spot on Emile's driveway!
